Feb 25 Steelhead fishing Salmon River

Fished the Salmon River today with Stan Pietrzyk, the owner of the Double Eagle Lodge in Pulaski. We fished the mid river in front of my partner Skeeter Scoville's property and did great. We landed around 10 fish total and lost more. Stoneflies and trout beads have been working the best. Here are a few picks from today.

Feb 13 Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River

I fished today with my good friend Waldemar Auguscinski out of his Willie drift boat in the morning in Altmar and landed two Steelhead along with one beautiful Coho Salmon. There was a lot of pressure up there and the wind was bone chilling so we decided to pull out at Pineville and wade fish the rest of the day downriver in the middle section of the Salmon River to get away from the crowds and hopefully warm up by moving. It turned out to be the right decision and we stayed warm and landed about seven fish in two hours. Here are a few pics from yesterday.

Feb 9-12

Ice fishing has been steady on Sandy Pond and Oneida Lake. We fished Oneida on Wednesday and it was a little slow but two days before my partner Jason Lawrence caught his limit of jumbo perch in the same location. The rest of the days my best friend Bucky, who just celebrated his 80th bday yesterday, and I fished locally on Sandy Pond and caught some beautiful perch, some nice bluegill, and a few bass. Here are a couple pics from Sandy Pond with Bucky.

Feb 4-5 Salmon River

Fished below the 2a bridge in Pulaski NY on the 4th for a few hours on Thurs. and hooked a few fish but only landed one Brown Trout swinging spey flies. The next day I fished with Ken Hubbard, a Pulaski alum I graduated with, in Altmar NY in the lowe fly zone for about an hour and didn't hook any so we headed down river and only hooked a few fish and landed one nice Steelhead. Very slow in the mid river lately. There have been good reports from Altmar down to Pineville where the largest consistancy of fish seem to be. Here are a couple pics from the last two days on the Salmon River
