Salmon River Steelies late march
Lots of angling pressure and a tough bite made for two really slow days on friday and saturday. Today we fished for a half day and had much better luck and fewer anglers.

Late March Steelhead on the Salmon River

Mid March Salmon River Steelhead
Fished a few days this week on the Salmon River. All the other tribs in the system are locked up solid with ice, so with no other options all the pressure is focussed on the Salmon River. Our biggest obstacle lately has been getting good spots before other people because of the added pressure. We have managed for the most part and done well considering. Here are some pix from the last few trips...

Mid March Steelies on the Salmon
I was out a few days this week on the river and the fishing has been fair. We are catching a few fish a day and hooking quite a few more, enough to keep it interesting. The temps have been all over the place which makes the fishing a little more inconsistent, hopefully March ends up going out like a lamb and we get some sun and warmth finally! Here are some of the pix from the last few trips, unfortunately didn't get pix of some of the other fish landed....

March 6th Salmon River Steelhead
I recently returned from my annual trip to Fly Fish Guanaja, which was a great escape from the brutal winter we've been enduring. Unfortunately I don't have any pix from Guanaja because of a computer issue that caused me to loose all of my pix. However, it was once again a phenomenal time with great people, in a great location. I didn't do much fishing this trip, mostly I was there to help out and do my best to empty the beer coolers on a daily basis. I finally got out today on the home waters of the Salmon River, fished for only an hour and landed some nice winter steelhead! The sun was shining, the temps were relatively warm at 22 (I said relative) and the fish were biting! Looking forward now to the beginning of spring steelhead season and seeing lots of familiar faces, and hopefully some warmth!
