Belize Trip

Just returned from a trip to Belize for two weeks.  It was half fishing exploration and half relaxation.  The first week was with the girlfriends in Maya Beach near Placencia.  The week was full of amazing food, waterfalls, jungle hikes, snorkeling, some fishing, and plenty of chill time.  The following week Mark and I headed North to Hopkins Village for a day and a half just to check it out.  I've always wanted to check Hopkins out, its a very laid back easy going beach village.  From there we headed north to Dangriga where we caught a boat ride thirty minutes out to Tobacco Key where we spent the next six days.  Its super inexpensive, very chill, and surrounded by some good fishing.

We fished a total of six days with a guide.  Mark and I both landed some permit, I lost a couple more due to break offs and had a couple more eats that didn't translate into hookups.  The area known as "Permit Alley"  is full endless vast flats all along and within the barrier reef system that is home to great numbers of permit!  There are plenty of other species to target including bonefish, tarpon, snook, barracuda, jacks, triggerfish and we even had shots at cobia.  I will be heading back down there in early May with a group for some more flats fishing paradise!
