Early August Royal Coachman Lodge

The Rainbow fishing has been amazing in the past few weeks in Alaska!! The sockeye eggs are dropping and the egg gorge is on! A lot of our other fisheries are taking off as well, we are catching some huge Char and Dollies, and fresh hot silvers on our coastal rivers. Its a great time of year to be in Alaska!!

Late July Early August at the Royal Coachman AK

The King Salmon season ended strong on the Nushagak system with big numbers still coming in up until the end of the king season! Now we are focused on the silvers, rainbows, dollies, and char more than anything and it has been great so far and should only improve in the weeks to come!

Late June - mid July Royal Coachman Lodge AK

A lot has happened in Alaska the last few weeks, the Caribou migration near the lodge has come and gone, the Kings on the Nushagak hit their peak and have now moved up into their spawning habitat, the silver Sockeye blitz has come and gone as they also are turning red and staging in spawning waters. So much happens in such a short amount of time in Akaska, it is constant never ending change. The biggest story though, has been the weather. So far it has been the coldest July on record and one of the rainiest I have seen in five seasons. Lots of our rivers are blown out and muddy but the rivers coming out of lakes seem to be staying clear enough to fish and in some cases the high water has actually helped the fishing drawing more fish into the rivers. As I am writing this, however, the sun is shining and the temp is around 65 so hopefully our luck is changing!
