Mid October

Fished the last three days with EJ and Rich from Virginia and did very well on Steelhead, Rainbows, Kings, and a couple cohos mixed in. Lots of variety in the Salmon River and tribs right now, the only thing we were missing was a brown trout and we did see a few, just couldn't get them to eat.

The Salmon Run has been really strong this fall up until two days ago when it finally slowed a little. However, late yesterday and today there were big pushes of kings and steelhead moving through. The steelhead bite hasn't been great, not sure why but we have site fished a good number of them and just can't seem to get them to eat. I'm sure that trend will change with crowds diminishing. September at the Coachman

To sum up the month of september, the term inclement weather comes to mind. We have had lots of precipitation and extreme winds to deal with. However, we have been continuing to catch some great fish. Good numbers of big rainbows and the coastal silver salmon fishing has been as good as we have seen it, especially this late in the season. Yesterday they were catching lots of bright sea lice silvers all day long! Here are a few late season Alaska pix. Probably my last report until I am back home on the Salmon River.
