October 16th Salmon River

Fished today in the Upper Salmon River. Caught lots of fish and a great variety of fish; Kings, Cohos, Browns, and Atlantic Salmon. The only thing we did not catch was a Steelhead which would have been a Grand Slam! We landed probably between 15 and 20 fish and had plenty of action all day long. Here are some pics from today...

October 15 Salmon River NY

Fished today on Skeeter's property of the Salmon River. The water level is at 750 cfs and the clarity is getting much better. We landed about 12 King Salmon and lost many more throughout the day. No Stealhead landed by us but there are a good number moving through. Here are some pix from today..

October 13 Back in Pulaski NY and the Salmon River

I have been fishing the past 5 days in the Salmon River area of Pulaski NY. There are plenty of fish to be caught in the river and its tributaries. The water levels are finally dropping after the huge flood that river endured a couple weeks ago. The river is still a little off color but fishing well. Lots of steelhead and brown trout are moving through daily. The King and Coho salmon are still trickling in however, the largest portion of the run has already made its way through to the upper river. Here are some pix from this past week....

Late September at the Royal Coachman Lodge

As the season here at the Coachman winds down to the final week this will probably be the final report from Alaska. Another great season in the books and I will be flying home out of Anchorage on Oct 4th and will be in Pulaski NY on the 5th. It is not quite over yet though and we have had some amazing Rainbow fishing of late. Here are some of the pics from the last week...

Mid September in Alaska

The fishing remains amazing especially the Rainbow Trout fishing. Good numbers of huge Bows are being caught daily and they are absolutely stuffed full of sockeye and Pink eggs. They look like giant footballs and are a ball of energy! The Silvers are still fishing very well but have peaked and are slowy starting to decline in numbers. The one pictured above was a colored up male Silver caught across from the lodge during a break. These Silvers have traveled about 150 miles by the time they reach the lodge whereas the Silver we fly out to fish are still covered in sealice and much bigger. The rest of the photos are all giant rainbows except for the one Arctic Char that was caught in our local river.
